The mountaineer Reinhold Messner buys the “Second Step” of Mount Everest. The largest collection of mountain pictures and paintings of the world, the Messner Mountain Museum opened its sixth Museum: the Messner Mountain Museum am Kronplatz, MMM Corones in Juli 2015.

The painting is shown right at the entry to the museum. This picture shows Reinhold Messner in front of the “Second Step” to the left and a ladder like the one painted and situated at the 2nd step in above 8.000 m height to the right.

The architecture of the museum is by well know Zaha Hadid, who made the museum a jewel. Also the Kronplatz contributes to the success with breathtaking views on the Alps and the Dolomites!

“Fels” plays a central role at bei Jürgen Stäudtners Interpretation of the steepest step on Mt Everest Northeast ridge:

Second Step, 180 cm * 280 cm, Oil on Canvas, 2014

Only a ladder allows the normal mountaineer to climb this 40 meters obstacle. Not only Mallory and Irvine have not ben able to pass it. Traffic jams are normal here.

Portrait painting, 2013, 90 * 90 cm, Oil and tempera on linen

The museum features also Stephan Huber, Hubert Scheibl, Herbert Brandl, Helmut Ditsch, Julian Cooper, Lois Fasching, James Belcher and many more.
