South Col, 2014, 220 *135 cm, Oil, Acryl and Tempera on Linen The South Col of Mount Everest is the highest Col one could imaginge. Almost 8.000 meters high it is the lowest point between Mount Everest and Lhotse, the highest and the fourth highest mountain of the world.
The Khumbu Icefall is located close to the Mount Everest base camp when approaching the mountain from the south. The North Col is the first camp climbers reach if they climb Everest from the North side. Many tents are ready – build by Sherpas – for the climbers that go up there for acclimatization or the final attempt.
