The North Col is the first camp climbers reach if they climb Everest from the North side. Many tents are ready – build by Sherpas – for the climbers that go up there for acclimatization or the final attempt.

From this point at approximately 7.000 metres above sea level, climbers ascend the NorthRidge to reach a series of progressively higher camps along the North Face of Everest. The North Col connects Mount Everest and Changtse in Tibet. It forms the head of the East Rongbuk Glacier.
